On Tuesday, June 17, the Polish U21 National Team will play its final group stage match of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The Polish national team will face a strong French team. The match will take place in Žilina, with the first whistle set for 6:00 PM CET.
For the Poles, this will be a battle for honor – despite their great ambition and fight, our youth team has lost both of their previous matches: 1-2 to Georgia and a resounding 5-0 to Portugal. The second defeat was particularly painful, with us conceding four goals in the first half. Despite this, coach Rafał Majewski vows to fight until the end and wants his team to leave the tournament with their heads held high.
France, on the other hand, are playing for something more – a victory will guarantee them a secure spot in the knockout stages. The Tricolores are in excellent form: they haven't lost a single one of their last six matches, and their 3-2 victory over Georgia further boosted their morale. This is a team full of individual talents, but also tactically well-organized.
Jakub Kałuziński is worth keeping an eye on in the Polish squad – the central midfielder is in good form and could play a key role. Filip Szymczak, one of the attacking leaders, is also likely to feature, and Łukasz Bejger is expected to return to defense, strengthening the defense.
Bookmakers favor France, awarding them a handicap of -1.5 and odds of around 1.63. However, Poland has repeatedly shown its ability to fight despite adversity. Heart, determination, and a dignified farewell to the tournament will be key on Tuesday.
