Błoto, śmiech i gole: mistrzostwa świata w swamp football 2025

Mud, laughter and goals: the 2025 Swamp Football World Cup

From July 18th to 20th, Hyrynsalmi in northern Finland hosted one of the world's most unusual and spectacular football competitions – the Swamp Football World Championship. This unique event annually attracts hundreds of players and fans from around the world who are unafraid of challenges, mud, and intense physical exertion.

Swamp football is a sport that originated in the 1990s as a form of training for Finnish soldiers. Over time, it developed into a fully-fledged sport with its own rules and enormous international interest. This year's edition featured approximately 200 teams from countries such as Sweden, Great Britain, Russia, and, of course, Finland.

Matches are played 6v6, with no offside allowed, on a specially prepared marshy field. Players move through the mud, battling not only opponents but also nature. Every step is a challenge, and every pass or shot requires immense strength and determination. 💪🌧

The team that survives the mud and manages to score more goals than their opponent wins. Can you imagine sprinting knee-deep in mud to get a shot on target? Or perhaps trying to dribble with your boots stuck in the mud? This is where football reveals its completely different, unpredictable, and hilarious side. 😄

The Hyrynsalmi tournament isn't just a sporting competition, but also a festival of positive energy, laughter, and a wild atmosphere. Swamp football proves that football doesn't have to be limited to green fields—it can be creative, dirty, and... totally crazy!
